Edna Zaugg Sutton, class of 1931, passed away December 11, 2017. Edna attended the International Business College and retired from International Harvester. Survivors include two children; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Patricia Beall, class of 1934, died November 11, 2017. She continued her education at Duke University. After working as a Red Cross volunteer for three years in England, France and Germany during World War II, she settled in Indianapolis where she got a master’s degree in social work. Patricia had a lengthy career as Director of the Social Service Department at Indiana University Medical Center and taught at Indiana University School of Social Work.
Phyllis Culver Fisher, class of 1938, passed away January 22, 2018 in Bonita Springs, FL. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Pepin; and two grandchildren.
Mary Elizabeth Held Berning class of 1939, died November 1, 2016 in Oxnard, CA. After her husband Arnold’s death, she moved to California in 1998 to be near her daughter, Sharon Osborne. Other survivors include her son, Ronald; five grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Paul C. Carr, class of 1939, passed away January 28, 2018. After graduation, Paul served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a navigator. After being shot down during his 24th mission, he spent 18 months as a prisoner at StalagLuft I before returning to his wife and daughter in Fort Wayne. He is survived by his daughter and care giver, Paula Benya; son, John; daughter, Christine Bell; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Gerdom Crosbie, class of 1939, died February 15, 2018. She enjoyed volunteering at Lutheran Hospital and her hobbies included playing cards, knitting, gardening and reading. She is survived by her daughter, Jan Peterson-Lay; eight grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 10 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and son-in-law Martin Rector.
Richard W. Goshorn, Sr., class of 1939, passed away February 8, 2018 due to pneumonia after a bout with the flu. He got advanced degrees from Indiana University Schools of Business and Law and the Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. During WWII Richard served as a bomber pilot where he was shot down over Germany and spent nine months as a prisoner of war. After returning to Fort Wayne, he worked at a local law firm and served as vice president and trust officer of Lincoln National Bank and Trust Co. Richard also served on many organizations’ boards and associations. His wife, Helen; sons, Gregory, Douglas and Brian; daughters, Carol Whitinger and Marcia Goshern; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren survive him.
Julianne Smith MacDonald, class of 1939, died January 13, 2018. She was a dedicated volunteer for Lutheran Hospital and the American Red Cross. Survivors include her daughter, Judith Bruick; grandson Jeffrey; and five great-grandchildren.
Mary Teel Moore, class of 1939, died December 3, 2017 in Fort Wayne. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Colbert; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Ralph J. Obringer, class of 1939, passed away December 14, 2017 at his home in Wolcottville, IN. He served in World War II on a naval ship in the South Pacific. Ralph was an engineer at GE until his retirement in 1982. He also taught adult classes for GE internal programs. Surviving Ralph are his children and step-children; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Ruth Ellison Smith, class of 1939, died January 2, 2018 at Sage Bluff Health and Rehab. She was active in her church and worked with many local organizations. Surviving are her three sons; two daughters; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Melvin R. Schwartz, class of 1940, passed away March 13, 2018 at Coventry Meadows. He retired from Fairfield Supply Company in 1987. He had previously worked for J.C. O’Connor and Sons. Surviving are his children, Cynthia Johnson; Diane Witzenman; Craig and Gary Schwartz; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Pauline E. Zaegel, class of 1940, died December 29, 2017 in Fort Wayne. She retired in 1983 after 42 years of service at Peter Eckrich. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Woodview Healthcare.
Howard K. Stillwell, class of 1941, passed away December 27, 2017 at Hamilton House in Fort Wayne. He worked with Dana Corp. for 42 years, retiring in 1973. Howard served honorably in World War II with the U.S. Coast Guard. Surviving are his sons, Tom and Jim; daughter, Janice Bradley; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Marjorie Wigbel Boyer, class of 1942, died December 18, 2017.
Edna Grossman Hille, class of 1942, passed away December 24, 2017. She was a homemaker until returning to work at the Fort Wayne Bureau of Motor Vehicles where she retired. Edna was an avid gardener and loved volunteering at the Botanical Gardens. Survivors include her four daughters; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Harriet Swager Coughlin, class of 1943, passed away February 27, 2018 in Paulding, OH. She is survived by six children; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Thomas Wayne Hart, class of 1943, passed away March 28, 2018. Wayne served in the Navy and was discharged in 1946. He retired from Fruehauf Trailer as Terminal Manager in 1987. Wayne is survived by his wife of 67 years, Phyllis Jacobs Hart; and daughters Pemila Fowler, Betsy Gilliom, Susan Frisch, and Sally Hart.
Betty Brubaker Hinton, class of 1943, died January 28, 2018 in Fort Wayne.
Frances Meyer Schnizer, class of 1943, died December 31, 2017. She enjoyed golf, poker, bridge, spending time with friends, entertaining and parties. She loved the city of Fort Wayne and was very active in the community. Fran is survived by two daughters; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
Evelyn Knapp Harges, class of 1944, passed away January 11, 2018 in Fort Wayne. After her children were born she was employed at the YWCA, as a lifeguard and swim instructor for over 30 years. She then worked at the YMCA until age 85. Survivors include her three children; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Russell J. Moore, class of 1944, died February 13, 2018 at Mason Healthcare & Rehab in Warsaw, IN. After attending South Side, he served in the United States Navy. Russ retired from Dana Corp. after 42 years. He is survived by his wife, Joan, two daughters, Cynthia Beehler and Sandra Stewart; two sons, Tom and Phillip; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Martha Jean Fisher Swigart, class of 1944, passed away March 16, 2018 in Fort Wayne. She was a registered nurse and worked at various hospitals over the years. Surviving is her son, John; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Nancy Geake Thurson, class of 1944, passed away January 14, 2018 in Overland Park, KS.
Mary Lou Vetter Walda, class of 1945, died January 17, 2018 in Fort Wayne. She enjoyed caring for her family as a homemaker. Mary Lou was an active volunteer for her church circles, PEO, Home Bound Meals, and Lutheran Life. She is survived by her two daughters; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Betty Ellerman Jones, class of 1946, died December 17, 2017 at her residence in Fort Wayne. She was a homemaker and worked as a cashier at Parkview Hospital. Betty is survived by her two sons, Greg and Gary; and two daughters, Diane Swan and Carol Durkes; as well as nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Dorothy MeshbergerReust, class of 1946, passed away January 11, 2018. She worked as a Financial Representative at Lutheran Hospital for 16 years. After she retired she continued to work part-time for several years. Surviving are her daughter, Carol Smith; sons, Bryan and Dean Reust; 15 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 32 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Richard S. Peters, class of 1947, died December 27, 2017. He was a salesman for Sears for 25 years and owned, managed, and maintained numerous rental properties in Fort Wayne and Florida. Survivors include his three daughters; two sons; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Margaret Gehring Rekeweg-Schafer, class of 1947, passed away February 21, 2018 at Parkview Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, singing in the church choir, and playing cards. She is survived by her sons, Neal, John, Dale, and Mark; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Frances Gindlesparger Bolds, class of 1948, died January 2, 2018. She was a homemaker and worked at the Harvester Credit Union for 12 years. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughter Rebecca Waite; sons Andrew and Curtis Bolds; a granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.
Donald Campbell “Cam” Jones, class of 1948, died March 20, 2018 at Coventry Meadows Retirement Community. A cum laude graduate of Kenyon College, Cam then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later worked in the family business, Troy Laundry Company.
George Kissell, class of 1948, passed away February 12, 2018. He worked with Iron Workers Local 147. Surviving are his children, Dawn Fahlsing; Tina Fahlsing; and Greg Kissell; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Lawrence J. Lauer, class of 1948, passed away March 1, 2018 at the Hearth at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne. Larry graduated from the Indiana School of Business and served in the Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed a successful business career and investing in the stock market was his hobby. Surviving are his sons, Charles and Dan; daughter, Cindy; and two grandchildren.
Mary Haycock Passineau, class of 1948, died January 10, 2018 in Kettering, OH. She attended Albion College. Mary raised and bred dogs for 10 years, and then due to health problems because an avid genealogist. Her son, Brett; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren survive her.
Frederick A. “Fritz” Schulz, class of 1948, passed away March 3, 2018 at Celina Manor, Celina, OH, just eight days after his wife, Marilyn. Fritz graduated from Tulane University and played basketball while a student there. He was employed by various firms between Celina and Fort Wayne. Survivors include a daughter, Karin Staats; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
Jean S. Springer, class of 1948, died January 20, 2018 at his home in Napes, FL. He served in Korea before returning home to begin his career in the family jewelry business. His passion was golf and Jean won many tournaments. He is survived by his three sons; two daughters; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Norma Campbell Regenold, class of 1949, died January 9, 2018. She was a long-term childcare provider at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Paul; a son, Daniel; daughter, Brenda Flowers; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Maureen (Scotty) Calder Toenges, class of 1949, passed away February 20, 2018. She was an artist who could also design and sew clothes, upholster furniture, repair appliances and cars, fit shoes, and still get home in time to whip up a gourmet meal. She is survived by her husband, Fred; two sons; two daughters; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Joseph M. Chandler, class of 1949, died February 18, 2018 in Indianapolis, IN. He continued his education at Ball State Teachers College, receiving both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Joe also served in the United States Air Force in the Korean War. He taught and coached in New Castle, IN; worked for International Harvester; then returned to teaching at IPFW. Joe is survived by his wife, Marlene; children, Tracy, Scott, and Darcy Milner; and seven grandchildren.
Paul E. Underwood, class of 1949, passed away February 16, 2018. He played baseball while a student at Indiana University, and was voted most valuable player for the 1953 season. Paul was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds but instead chose to serve in the U.S. Air Force. He then started a career in the banking business. Surviving are his sons, Steven, Thomas, John, James, and Paul; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Lillian Norris Werling, class of 1949, died March 4, 2018 at her home in Ossian. She was a homemaker all of her life and a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in rural Ossian. Survivors include two sons, Colin and Glen; and four grandchildren.
Donald Terry Byrd, class of 1950, died February 19, 2018 in Palm Harbor, FL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Donald is survived by his wife, Alice; sons Donald and Thomas; daughter Janice Brown; stepson, Keith Muncie; step-daughter, Pamela Bauer; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bonnie Brubaker Isenbarger, class of 1950, passed away January 18, 2018. She was a member of the Junior Bowling Association and was inducted into the Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame. Bonnie enjoyed volunteering at Woodview Assisted Living where she later became a resident. She is survived by her children, Daniel Isenbarger and Debra Byrd; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Ruth Ehle Fox, class of 1950, passed away December 15, 2017 in Bluffton. She was the past owner and president of Sun and Fitness. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Dale; sons, Yancy, Mark, and Patrick; daughter, Alanna McGhee; stepsons, Dale II and Allen; stepdaughters, Sharon Pacheco, and Carol Baker; 24 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Donald W. Reider, class of 1951, passed away January 4, 2018 at his home. He worked on production control at various companies and was part owner of Adco Diamond Dies. Don was also a veteran of the Navy Reserve. After retiring, he and his wife, Vera, enjoyed traveling in their RV. Besides Vera; he is survived by four daughters; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Richard F. Welch, class of 1951, died February 22, 2018 in Swisher, Iowa. He went on to complete an electrical engineering degree at Purdue University. After graduating, Dick served at the rank of captain in the Army Reserve which kindled his lifelong interest in railroading. He is survived by his wife, Melba; daughter, Cynthia Luther; son, Daniel; three grandchildren; and step-father, grandfather and great-grandfather to Melba’s children.
James K. Buffington, class of 1952, passed away December 28, 2017 in Gainesville, FL. Survivors include his wife, Jean Wickliff Buffington ’53.
Ronald L. Hodgin, class of 1952, died December 17, 2017 after a sudden illness. Advance degrees include a BA from Fort Wayne Bible College and an MA in Education from IU. Together with his wife, Mary Lee, he dedicated his life to missionary service for 25 years in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Later he served as principal at Sarasota (FL) Christian School. Besides Mary Lee, Ron is survived by his daughter, Linda Schrenk; son, Laron; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Carol Cutshall Loomis, class of 1954, died in December 2017 in Venice, FL. She was very involved in drama both during her high school years and as a teacher in Venice. Carol is survived by her husband, Bill; three children; and grandchildren.
William J. Bernard, class of 1954, passed away December 6, 2017 in Fort Wayne. Bill served proudly in the Air Force after high school. He retired from Navistar in 1991 after 31 years of service and then worked at the Fort Wayne Vehicle Auction. Bill is survived by his children, Ellen Bowser; and William A. Bernard; three granddaughters; a step-grandson; and a great-grandson.
Gloria Ramm Sturmfels, class of 1954, died December 18, 2017 at The Glenn in Minnetonka, MN. She and her late husband, John, lived most of their married life in Ann Arbor, MI and returned to Fort Wayne in their retirement. Surviving are her sons, Peter and Daniel; daughter, Libby Luttenbacher; and four grandchildren.
Gloria Harding Brown, class of 1955, passed away March 17, 2018. She volunteered at Lutheran Hospital and Lutheran Life Villages. Gloria is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard; daughters, Susan Predmore, and Jennifer Fowler; son, Joel; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Joan Hattendorf Varketta, class of 1955, died January 14, 2018. Joan was a member of the South Side High School Quarter Century Club, honored for her many years of teaching. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Harold Varketta; daughter Kara Mertz; son, Steven Varketta; and two grandsons.
Anita L. Alter, class of 1956, passed away February 12, 2018 in Indianapolis.
Roger A. Foote, class of 1956, died March 9, 2018 in Winston-Salem, NC. He served four years in the U.S. Nanvy Security Group where he was stationed on Adak, Alaska and Bremerhaven, Germany. Roger worked for various companies in Indiana, Ohio, South Carolina before settling in Winston-Salem. He holds four patents in engineering. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Naomi DeBrular Foote; daughter, Rebecca Richardson; sons, Roger and Douglas; and four grandchildren.
Bernice Rekeweg Mock, class of 1956, passed away February 18, 2018. She retired from GTE after many years of service. Surviving are her son, David; daughters, Roberta McCulloch, and Renee Starke; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Sally Branning Sickafoose, class of 1956, died February 16, 2018 at her home in Angola, IN. She owned her own medical billing business and had previously worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield. Surviving are two nieces.
Gertrude J. Wattley, class of 1956, died March 7, 2016 in Fort Wayne. She had a long successful career retiring from L.S. Ayres and Lincoln Life. Gertie was a talented self-taught seamstress. She is survived by her two sons, Ronnie and Kevin; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Roger Close, class of 1957, passed away December 2, 2017 in Woodstock, IL. He earned his Jet Aircraft and Engine License at Chanute Air Force Technical School and went on to work for various companies. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Phyllis ’57; son Doug; and grandsons, Jacob, Zachary and Ryan.
Susan Morganthaller Kern, class of 1957, passed away January 8, 2018 at Goshen Hospital. She was active for many years in the Syracuse Bowl as well as their RV business. Survivors include her sons, David and Daniel; daughter, Deborah; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
William R. Pocock, class of 1957, died March 11, 2018 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years before becoming a floor mechanic for over 60 years. He had completed flooring for the Embassy, Fort Wayne Bank Building and the W & D Building. He is survived by is wife of 57 years, June; daughter, Billi Rae Opliger; sons, Kevin and Mathew; six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
David P. Bengs, class of 1959, died December 19, 2017 in Fort Wayne. Surviving are two brothers and three sisters.
Donna Zelt Green, class of 1959, passed away February 1, 2018. She worked as a guidance counselor, Dean, and then guidance coordinator before retiring as a school administrator with Fort Wayne Community Schools.
Flora Yarman Stearns, class of 1959, died December 1, 2017. Flora was a hairdresser but her family was her main focus. She was also active in her church. Survivor include her husband, James; four daughters; a son; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Robert K. Pfundstein, class of 1960, passed away on December 12, 2017 in Fort Wayne. He worked as a hearing aid specialist in Fort Wayne. Robert was a volunteer with the outreach program for Hearcare and Fort Wayne Rescue Mission. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Surviving are his wife, Bernice; daughter, Karen Mel; and grandson, Elijah Mel.
William J. Platka III, class of 1961, died March 27, 2017. He obtained advance degrees from the Americas in Mexico City and graduate degree at The American Institute for Foreign Trade. Bill was an amputee for almost 14 years and was president of the amputee support group of Orange County. In Laguna Woods, CA where he and Nancy lived since 2011, he played golf and bridge. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, son Robert and his wife Suzzanne; and a grandson, Spencer.
Paul A. Stammen, class of 1961, died December 24, 2017 surrounded by his family. He retired from the city of Fort Wayne in 2000 after 42 years of service. Paul was a member of T.P.A. which provides assistance to deaf children and a member of I.S.C.A. where he enjoyed showing his 1993 Indy pace truck. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barb Hans-Stammen; children; three granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; four step-grandsons; and one step-granddaughter.
David Timma, class of 1961, died April 22, 2017 in Clio, MI.
Sarah “Sally” Capps Tubbesing, class of 1961, died December 14, 2017 at her home in Freeport, ME. Her early career included positions with the School of Social Services at the Univ. of Chicago, Arthur Young & Co., and the Center for Social Policy. Later, she served for 18 years as the Executive Director of the Legislative Council of the Maine State Legislature. Sally is survived by her husband, Carl; step-daughter Laura McIver; and two granddaughters.
Keith A. Beghtel, class of 1963, passed away December 31, 2017 from effects of exposure to agent orange.
Clifford O. Greiner, class of 1963, died March 9, 2018 at home. Survived by daughter, Holly Zimmerman; son, Chris; and four grandchildren.
Darleen McClure Jackson, class of 1963, passed away January 4, 2018 at her residence. She retired in 2013 from Lonza as a Sales Merchandiser. She is survived by her son, Todd; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
James A. Fletcher, class of 1965, died January 5, 2018 at his home in St. Paris, OH. He retired from Navistar in 2004 and enjoyed music, fishing, and spending time with his granddaughters. Survivors include his wife, Leslie; two daughters; and two granddaughters.
Marvin F. Kiessling, class of 1965, died March 8, 2018 at Heritage Park Health Care Center in Fort Wayne. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years and worked at General Electric for 35 years before retiring in 1997. Marvin was a classic car enthusiast and loved spending time with family. Surviving are his sons, Richard and Tony; daughters, Tracey Stano, Shelly Gray, Laurie Kiessling, and Angie Tillman; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
David C. Brown, class of 1967, died January 31, 2018 at Parkview Hospital. After graduating from Sam’s Technical Institute, Dave worked for GE until his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed his retirement years at his farm in Ashley, IN. Dave is survived by his sister, Ginger Paul.
David Wirt, class of 1967, passed way December 30, 2017 at Parkview Hospital, Randallia. He retired in 2013 from Air Management, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; twin sons Daniel and David; daughter, Sarah Curtis; and four grandchildren.
Danny Ray Neely, class of 1969, died March 18, 2018 at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, Indianapolis. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later worked as a truck driver. He loved spending time with his grandkids, traveling, square dancing and iced tea. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Diana; sons Jeremy and Chad; daughters, Julia Seeton, Kylene Maxwell; ten grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
James W. Howard, class of 1970, passed away June 27, 2017 at Canterbury Nursing & Rehab in Fort Wayne; He loved music, spending time at the lake; and was a car enthusiast. Surviving are his wife, Debbie; daughter, Heather Lambert; and granddaughter, Alexis.
Kathleen A. Murnane, class of 1971, died December 30, 2017 in Fishers, IN. Kathleen moved to Indianapolis to attend college and spent her entire working career there except for the three years she interned with the Graymoor Friars in Garrison, NY. Her favorite pastime was traveling, particularly to Ireland. Survivors include two brothers and two sisters.
Emmett C. Booher, class of 1972, passed away February 2, 2018 in Fort Wayne. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, he worked for Saylor’s Pizza and later owned and operated his own roofing company. Surviving family include his daughters, Pamela Tripolone, Jane Moreno, Jessica King, and Jennifer Hernandez; step-son, Michael Harmon; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
William V. Martin III, class of 1973, died March 15, 2018. He graduated from Valley College School of Respiratory Therapy and completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Pittsburgh. In 1997, he received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law. Billy was a respiratory therapist and was a retired substitute teacher with FWCS..He is survived by his daughter, Charmaine Bryant.
Ray (Fred) Graft, class of 1975, passed away March 5, 2018 in Fort Wayne. He served his country honorably with the United States Air Force before retiring from the Fort Wayne Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Deanna Hayes; sons, Jeromy and Jeffrey; and four grandsons.
Keith Closson, class of 1980, died December 18, 2018. He was an Orthopedic Technician. Keith was also an avid fisherman. Surviving are his wife, Susan, and two daughters, Kila, and Katelynn.
Sean M. McKenna, class of 1984, passed away February 2, 2018. He had many interests including music, his weather radio. Sean and his wife, Jodi, loved cooking together. He and daughter, Susan, shared a love of music, especially karaoke. Sean and his son, Michael, enjoyed statistics, especially sports’ statistics. He and son, Mason, shared sports stories, including the ones Sean coached.
Dennis J. Mihm II, class of 1999, died January 31, 2018. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for six years as a cannon crewmember and was currently in the U.S. Army Reserve. He is survived by his children Camden, Summer, and Elijah.
Chelsie A. Montgomery, class of 2007, passed away December 16, 2017 in Fort Wayne. She worked in housekeeping at St. Anne Home and The Towne House Retirement Community. Her survivors include her parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
Mathew D. Miller, class of 2009, died February 2, 2018 in Fort Wayne. He was serving an apprenticeship with Votaw Electric at the time of his death. Mathew is survived by his South Side High School siblings, Jennifer Hoffman, Sara Cook, Hannah Sims, Kathryn Keefer, Joseph, Paul, Zachary, Daniel, Andrew, and Adam Miller.
Martel D. Milton, class of 2011, died 12/3/2017 in Fort Wayne. Martel was a certified fork lift operator and worked as a quality inspector. Martel leaves to cherish his memory a son, My’Kel James Lyles; parents; four sisters; and eight brothers.
Jillian M. Homier (nee Marler), age 37, of Fort Wayne, passed away suddenly Thursday, January 18, 2018. She was born in Hobart, Indiana to Frank and Pat Marler. Jillian was a 1998 graduate of Hobart High School. Jillian received a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University in Bloomington. She was currently employed as a government teacher at Southside High School in Fort Wayne, where she will always be remembered for her dedication to the students. Jillian was a cheerleading coach, student council advisor, and a member of the Homecoming committee. She was the yearly organizer for the Riley Hearts fundraiser. Jillian felt very strongly about organ donation and will live on through her own donation. She is survived by her devoted husband, Brian Homier of Fort Wayne; mother, Pat (Rick Griffin) Marler of Schererville; brother, Clinton (Liz Sonderby) Marler of Chesterton; beloved niece, Avarie Marler; mother and father-in-law, Joe and Cindy Homier; grandmother, Dorsie Williams; fur babies, Tobie and Bailey; all of her beloved students and the faculty at Southside High School.
