In Memoriam – Winter 2021

Ruth Redding Stoll, class of 1934, died December 31, 2020.  Ruth worked for Archway Bakery and Hickory Farms.  She was a volunteer at Lutheran Hospital, Visiting Nurse Hospice and Parkview Gift Shop.  Surviving is her daughter, Nancy Bartol; daughter-in-law Carol Stoll Bruick; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Martha Crum Karst, class of 1938, passed away November 28, 2020.  She retired in 1985 after 21 years working for School City of Mishawaka as a secretary for Twin Branch School. Martha is survived by her daughters, Gail Whitehead; Lori Kardell; and Marilou Gilman; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Alexander A. Azar, class of 1940, died December 17, 2020.  Alex graduated from IU in three years with a business degree and then joined the U.S. Army to serve during World War II.  He started his career by opening a grocery store with his brother, David ’41.  However, he is more well known for opening the Azar’s Big Boy Restaurantsin Fort Wayne and then Marriott Hotels throughout the Midwest.He and his late wife, Norma, also raised a family. Survivors include his daughters, Laura Meers’67, Linda Azar ’70; son George,’78; and two grandchildren.

Patricia HockerMcNiece, class of 1944, passed away September 27, 2020.  After marrying Richard McNiece in 1945, she was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her home and family.  She also worked at Souder’s Furniture for 17 years.  Patricia is survived by her son, Richard McNiece, Jr; daughter Vicki Zygmont; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mary Whittern Wright, class of 1944, died December 1, 2020.  She is survived by her husband, Floyd; daughter, Carol Schumacker; and four grandchildren.

William Knipstein, Jr. class of 1945, passed away November 6, 2020.  Bill served in the U.S. Army during World war II and went on to work at Zollner for almost 50 years.  He is survived by his children, Scott, Kent and Bethany; and two grandsons.

Mary Snyder Schneider, class of 1945, died September 30, 2020.  She is survived by her son, David; and daughter Rev. Gretchen Schneider.

Jacquelyn Robinson Shaffer, class of 1945, passed away November 5, 2020.  She married her late husband, Richard, in 1948.  She then became a homemaker and mother.  She enjoyed playing bridge with family and friends.  Jackie is survived by her two children, Kim Green and John Shaffer; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Paul M. Menefee, class of 1946, died June 14, 2020.  Besides his wife, Mary Lou, he is survived by his sons Tim, Joe, Tom, and John, three grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

Ruth Ann Pohlmeyer Sheets, class of 1946, passed away December 20, 2020 at home.  Tusie went on to IU where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.  She taught elementary school and was a Psi IotaXi and a Fort Wayne Junior League member.  Tusie enjoyed travel and summer activities on Lake James.  Surviving are her husband, Charles; daughters, Martha Kempf and Mary Tomaski; sister Martha Pohlmeyer Rarick ’54; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Roberta Calvert Smith, class of 1946, died November 22, 2020 from Covid-19.  She and her late husband, Robert, enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time on their “farm.”  She is survived by sons, Terry and Steven; daughter, Lou Anne Stevens; sister, Janet Calvert Kirsch ’63; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and three step great-great grandchildren.

William E. Burford, class of 1947, passed away September 11, 2020 at St. Anne Home & Retirement Community.  Bill attended New Haven United Methodist Church where he had been involved in various committees and activities.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  Bill then attended the St. Louis Institute of Music and was a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers.  He was a local piano instructor for 65 years.  He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy; daughters, Laura Claypool and Kathleen Thatcher; son, Donald; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Joan Hanson Gutermuth, class of 1947, died January 3, 2021.  Joan worked as a secretary for the City of Fort Wayne for 16 years.  She loved birds, reading, and spending time with her family.  Surviving are her children, John, Rickey Gutermuth Roe, Linda Gutermuth Nix, and Lisa GutermuthDuch; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Walter Wickliffe, class of 1947, passed away November 29, 2020.  He worked at Wayne Hardware, Schlatter Hardware and FWCS.  He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and watching football.  He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Martin; daughter Cindy Lake; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Merrill K. Hackett, class of 1948, died July 10, 2020.  He retired from ITT Aerospace in 1989.  He is survived by sons, Dennis, Gary and Steven; five grandsons; five great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

Sally Richardson Huhn, class of 1949, passed away November 13, 2020.  Sally worked at Nipsco for over 25 years.  She was also a faithful volunteer at the Gingerbread House.  She is survived by her husband, James; sons, Steve, Kevin, and Patrick Stoner; stepdaughters, Tina Christman, Cindy Mayo; stepson, Joseph Huhn; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and her sister, Paula Richardson Bynum ’54.

Barbara Waggoner Mundt, class of 1949, died December 27, 2020.  After graduation, Barbara was a secretary for two attorneys.  In 1990 she retired from Bank One in Marion as a loan officer.  She met Howard Mundt in kindergarten and they were married July 1, 1950.  She was a frequent volunteer for organizations in Marion and loved reading and traveling.  In addition to Howard, Barbara is survived by children, Michael Mundt; Pamela Finney; and Cynthia Fontaine; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Sollberger Raker, class of 1949, passed away October 18, 2020.  Dorothy was a volunteer advocate for children with special needs during her affiliation with the Dayton area association for Children with Learning Disabilities. She is survived by her children, Ralph Tatman and Anthony Raker; and six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Don “Duck” Rodenbeck, class of 1949, died December 9, 2020.  Duck furthered his education and played basketball at Valparaiso University.  After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he married Sharlene Sablack and worked for many years at Broadview Lumber Company.  Later he was able to fulfill the dream of opening a sporting goods store, Sports Den.  Besides Shar, he is survived by sons, Kevin, Kir, and Tom; daughter, Amy Conn; two grandchildren and a great grand-daughter.

Arlene Sue Yoder Conner, class of 1950, passed away April 18, 2020.  Sue earned a Registered Nurse (RN) degree from the Lutheran School of Nursing in 1952.  That same year, she married Max Conner and they made their home in Roanoke, IN.  Max died in 2010.  Sue worked 16 years as a nurse for Dr. B. Trent Cooper, the town physician in Roanoke.  She was an active member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association with her husband and rode in the club’s many events.  She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Burkett and two grandchildren.

Gilda Hengsteler Everson, class of 1950, died January 5, 2021.  She is survived by her daughter, Valerie; son, Mike; two grandsons; and her sister, Donna HengstelerGringauz’55.

Merle A. Hettler, class of 1950, passed away December 20, 2020.  Merle excelled in athletics while at South Side and was a member of the 1946 Fort Wayne Junior American Legion State Championship Baseball Team, and was an All-City selection in football and basketball.  As a senior, he qualified for the state track meet in the long jump.  Merle was inducted into the SSHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999.  He went on to play basketball and participated in track while at Ball State University.  After owning a series of taverns in the area, he became a salesman for AALco Distributing.  He later returned to tending bar.  He is survived by four children, William James, Michael, and Cindy Dawson; stepson, Bob Andrews; sister Edith Marsh ‘45, brother, Wilmer James ’47; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Hugh J. Baldus, Sr., class of 1951, died October 20, 2020.  Hugh went on to Notre Dame where he earned a degree in business finance and economics.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1955.  He and his wife, Mary, owned The Baldus Company for 30 years. Hugh was a member of the Fort Wayne Rotary Club, and active member of Fort Wayne’s post-war sports car scene. Music and spending summers at their late cottage were also a big part of Hugh’s life.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary; daughter, Patricia Baldus; sons, Hugh II and George II; eight grandchildren and his brother, Jerry.

James L. Baxter, class of 1951, passed away January 3, 2021.  Jim had many interests including singing and playing the piano.  He became a teacher working in Garrett and later FWCS.  After retirement he taught classes at Fort Wayne Bible College, Summit Christian and Huntington University.  Surviving is his wife, Juanita; son Jeff; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Marlene Clark Chandler, class of 1951, died October 24, 2020.  Marlene and her husband, Joe, lived in Fort Wayne for 54 years before moving to the Indianapolis area in 2017.  In addition to being an accomplished interior designer, Marty enjoyed painting, pottery, and card making. Surviving are her children, Tracy and Scott Chandler and Darcy Milner; and seven grandchildren.

Barbara Fosett Grady, class of 1951, passed away December 6, 2020.  She is survived by her two children Cheryl Williams and Sandra Payton; and three stepchildren, Roberta Chambers, Margaret Lewis and Lisa Driver.

Paul Scherer, class of 1951, died September 9, 2020.  Paul obtained a BS and MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.  He worked for NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greeenbelt, MD and Lockheed Martin in Colorado.  His field of expertise was satellite guidance and control systems. He also had a passion for old cars and helped friends around the country work on their antique automobiles.  Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy; daughters Susan and Carol; son David; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ruth Gardinier Dawson, class of 1952, passed away November 17, 2020.  Ruth was a homemaker and a member of Settlers, Inc. for over 30 years.  She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Evans, Karen Dawson, and Elaine Wyss; three grandchildren and a number of great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Ilene Fackler Meyer, class of 1953, died September 23, 2020.  She and her late husband, Wilbur, were married for 58 years before his passing in 2013.  Surviving family include her children, Stanley, Sanford, Sheldon Meyer, and Sherry Cole; and many grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

Charles V. Buchanan, class of 1954, passed away November 22, 2020.  Charlie served two years in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Mannheim Germany.  He later worked for Nickel Plate Railroad before joining the Treaty Company out of Greenville, OH.  He is survived by his wife, Ann Gagel Buchanan; children, Christopher, Ellen, Tobias, Emily, and Katherine; nine grandchildren; and brothers, Richard, Jim ’65, and Kevin ’71.

Loretta Raub Heckman, class of 1954, died December 16, 2020.  Following graduation, she devoted the next 30 years of her life to her family.  After raising her children, she moved to New Mexico to pursue her passions by attending New Mexico State University and getting her bachelor of arts in Anthropology and master’s of art in Applied Geography.  Loretta returned to Indiana in 1999 and opened an antique store.  She is survived by her three children, Rick Heckman, Leslie Laffkas and Lisa Jahn-Hahn; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Carolyn Greiner Tungate, class of 1954, passed away December 24, 2020.  Carolyn earned a nursing degree from IU in 1958, where she met George.  They were married June 21, 1958.  She went on to earn her master’s degree in Nursing in 1995.  She worked at IU Hospital, Hendricks County Hospital and in the Clinical Research Center at IU Hospital.  Surviving her in addition to George are her children Suzanne and Carl Tungate; three grandchildren; and her sister Candy Greiner Beltz‘65.

Mary Lou Miller Wise, class of 1954, died December 23, 2020.  She attained her associate’s degree at IU and worked in the transportation business before retiring in 1992.  Mary is survived by her daughter, Lynda Orr; stepsons, Kenneth and Daniel Wise; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Tom Miller ’56, David Miller ’63, and Steve Miller ’64; and sister, Becky Miller Easley ’58.

Mary “Arlene” Brewer Brown, class of 1955, passed away December 26, 2020.  She met her husband, Bob, in a bookkeeping class at South Side and married a year after graduation.  After her children started school, she went to work at Indiana Insurance Co.  She and Bob spent many summer weekends and vacations at their lake cottage at Sylvan Lake. She is survived by her sons, Greg and Mark; daughter, Tami Witte; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters Linda Smith McCormick ’66,and Betsy Loubier; and brother, Jim Smith.

Allan J. Campbell, class of 1955, died August 5, 2020.  Allan went on to Purdue University and served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was a metallurgist at Joselyn Stainless Steel and a machinist at CTS Machine Works.  Surviving is his brothers Don ‘59 and Russ Campbell ‘61.

Sharlene Limecooly Gill, class of 1955, passed away December 7, 2020.  She and her husband, George, enjoyed travel and attending Mad Ants and TinCaps games.  She also sang in her church choir at Resurrection Lutheran Church.  After George’s passing, she moved to Phoenix, AZ near son, Andy.  She is also survived by son, Scott; and four grandchildren.

Pearl “Vicki” Goodwin Kruse, class of 1955, died September 28, 2020.  She was Steve Shine’s first secretary and worked for him for many years before working for ITT.  She and her husband, Keith, were very active in the antique car community traveling across the country in their cars.  She is also survived by her son, James, daughter, Karen Wright; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brothers William Goodwin ’41 and Richard Goodwin.

Colleen Liddy Powell, class of 1955, passed away September 14, 2020.  After graduation, Colleen moved to Lancaster, PA where she became a nurse.  She served on many boards and volunteered many hours of her time.  In 1997 Colleen was named a Distinguished Alumnus of South Side High School.  She is survived by her husband, Jay; children, Steven, Timothy a, Michael, and Mary C. Paschen; and 11 grandchildren.

Sheila Ann Shorter, class of 1955, died September 17, 2020.  Sheila worked for several Fort Wayne businesses before retiring in 1992.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Judith LarkoAusderan, class of 1956, passed away January 4, 2021.  Judy retired from FWCS as a bus driver.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband, gardening, and outdoor activities at her lake home.  Surviving is her son, Cary Ausderan; daughter Laura Cunningham; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Sonya “Sue” Boyer Allen, class of 1957, died December 29, 2020 at Parkview Hospice Care.

Judith Click Gable, class of 1957, passed away December 31, 2020. Judy married Carl D. Gable Jr. on December 6, 1968 in Ft Wayne, IN after meeting on a blind date. She was an executive secretary at Essex Wire for over 20 years.Judy never had any biological children but opened her heart to Carl’s three daughters from a previous marriage. Daughters surviving are Peg Miller and SharonLeatherman; five grandchildren; and eightgreat-grandchildren.

Monica Gable Laughlin, class of 1957, died November 11, 2020.  Monica loved to bake, enjoyed crafts, and visiting Shipshewana.  She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Michael; three sons, Pat, Tony, and Pete; two sisters, Carol Gable Hare ’57 and Cindy Gable Roth ‘61; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

James T. Parks, class of 1957, passed away November 23, 2020.  James was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired as an electrical engineer from American Electric Power.  He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons Patrick and Michael; daughters Karen Parks and Kathleen Heaston.

Stephen Procise, class of 1958, died in Waupun WI on December 15, 2020.  Steve graduated from Ball State University and spent his career in sales and eventually started ProMotions Plus with his brother, Fred ’56. Steve loved books and reading but really loved golf.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia; children Shelley Hoernke, Sean and Susan Procise; eight grandchildren; and three siblings, Fred, Dian Eiler and Jane Geist.

C. George Stilwell, class of 1958, passed away December 6, 2020.  George worked as Chief of the Fire Shop for the Fort Wayne Fire Department for 32 years.  Surviving include his wife of 54 years; Sally; children, Judy Leon, Jerry Teague, Randy Stilwell; Sally King, and Jeff Stilwell; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

John W. Heilman, class of 1959, died November 1, 2020.  He retired from B.F. Goodrich after 36 ½ years.  John loved his silver Corvette and his many rescue dogs and cats.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn; children, Constance Newman, John Heilman, Catherine Warner, Kerri Green, and Jason Vachon; and 10 grandchildren.

Thomas R. Kierspe, class of 1959, passed away November 12,2020.  Tom also attended Midwestern College and IPFW. He was a veteran of the 122nd Air Force National Guard.  He worked at GE for 35 years before retiring in 1999.  After retirement, he volunteered as Sexton of St. John Lutheran Cemetery; and spent weekends as a rendezvous’ reenactor.  Tom is survived by his sister, Nancy Kierspe Dodd ’54

Rosy M. Tsintsaroff Ridenour, class of 1959, died November 23, 2020.  Rosie was well known for her work in front of and behind the scenes in local theaters.  Her husband, Edgar (Ben); daughter Angela Friemuth; son Gregory Ridenour; four grandchildren; and sister, Constance TsingtsaroffSkimos’52, survive.

Helen Robinson Campbell, class of 1960, passed away January 2, 2021.  Helen married her high school sweetheart, Don ’59, in 1962; and dedicated her life to her family, volunteer work, and singing in her church choir.  She is also survived by three children, Deborah Densel, Catherine Garrison, and Bradley Campbell, seven grandchildren (six living), and nine great-grandchildren.

John M. Harper, Jr, class of 1960, died November 7, 2020.  John was an artist who loved to paint and do woodworking.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  He enjoyed cooking for his children and their friends who called him “Dad”.  He is survived by his daughter, Renee; son, Bryan; granddaughter, Dalani; brother, Joe ‘61; and sister, Mary Ann Wolefert.

Gertrude Gerardot Joker, class of 1960, passed away September 10, 2020.  She worked as a homemaker and then at a number of businesses in customer service.  Besides her husband, Robert, she is survived by her daughters, Johanna Campbell, and Joyce Kilbride; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Sandra Long Meyers, class of 1960, died October 6, 2020.  After high school, Sandra graduated from cosmetology school, owned her own car sales lot, and was a title clerk at Dimension Ford.  Sandy is survived by son, John; four step-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.

Steven L. Haifley, class of 1961, passed away December 4, 2020.  Steven was a mechanic at International Harvester and then other local companies.  Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Bailey; son, Paul; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

William H. Bergman, class of 1963, died October 3, 2020.  Bill served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam from 1965 to 1967.  He retired from Dana as an Inspector.  Bill is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cindy; five sons, Joseph, Andrew, Daniel, Kelly and Kerry; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Linda Dollarhite Hammer, class of 1963, passed away November 22, 2020.  Linda worked for the U.S. Census Bureau and Dennis Research and Westat. She enjoyed quilting and fine needlepoint in her spare time.  She is survived by her children; Todd, Terry and Tim Hammer; Tina Eisenhart and Tammy Harmon; father of her children, Guy Hammer; life partner, George Byrd; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Kay Wollman Bailey, class of 1964, died December 20, 2020.  She graduated from IU with a master’s degree in Education and taught in FWCS for 38 years. She loved her family, gardening, IU basketball and all animals.  Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Bill; children, Alison Carlson and Ben Bailey; two grandchildren; and brother, David Wollman ’69.

Dan R. Jones, class of 1964, passed away July 28, 2020.  Dan was in the Army National Guard and worked at GE for 42 years.  After retirement he became an ordained minister.  He is survived by his wife, Sandi; children, Chris, Helen McCormick, and Zach; step-son Pete Boling; and six grandchildren.

Cheryl Craig Kennerk, class of 1964, died November 13, 2020.  She also attended Ohio University and St. Francis College. Cheryl was an elementary school teacher at Harrison Hill. Cheryl is survived by husband, Edward; daughter, Allyson York; son Neal and five grandchildren.

Jane Hetfield Hoover, class of 1965, passed away November 22, 2020.  She is survived by her children, Lisa Henschen and Lucas Hoover; four grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Cheryl Wake Ross, class of 1967, died December 4, 2020.  Cheryl was a tax preparer for 15 years.  She is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Sherri Darling; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother Michael Wake ’65 and sister, Kathy Wake Woodward, ’68.

Lanny “Lance” Stults, class of 1967, passed away November 27, 2020.  He went on to study at IPFW and Fort Hayes State University.  Lance worked in the mortgage business, but loved playing basketball and baseball throughout his life. He is survived by his daughter, Lyndsey; sons, Adam Sweden and Alex; one grandson; and his brother, F. Steven Stults ’61.

Jane Tagtmeyer Dawkins, class of 1968, died September 14, 2020. Her life’s calling was midwifery and she helped countless mothers and babies.  Jane sang in her church choir, Hearthstone Ensemble and folk group, Rosewood.  She is survived by children Amanda Pickett, Abigail Fraley and Gabe Dawkins; and five grandchildren.

Deborah Dillman Martinez, class of 1969, passed away December 14, 2020 in Rogers, Arkansas.  Debi enjoyed playing cards and bingo.  As the artistic one in her family, she was always making posters and art or craft pieces for others. Debi was married to Bill West until his passing in 1988.  Her second husband, Steve Martinez, passed away in 2011 after 21 years together.  Debi is survived by her siblings, Jaquelyn Dillman Lindquist ’71; Linda Dillman’74; and Earl Dillman.

Ronald N. Prange, class of 1969, died September 23, 2020.  Ron accompanied his high school choir on the piano but preferred playing drums for “The Rising Sons” a foursome of guys who did gigs at high school dances and parties.  Towards the goal of becoming a professional baseball player, he chose to play at Western Michigan University.  However, that did not happen so he went on to pursue an MBA in Bio-Chem at WMU.  That led to a 27-year career at the Upjohn Company working in the diabetes/ atherosclerosis lab and he worked his way up the management ladder to a position on the corporate staff.  Ron also enjoyed teaching business classes at area Michigan colleges. Ron met his wife, Mary while participating in industrial league sports.  In addition to Mary, he is survived by his son, Vincent; daughter, Angie Pineda; and granddaughter Enya.

Elaine “Faye” Moilanen Stanton, class of 1969, passed away January 3, 2021.  She spent her career at Lincoln Financial Group.  Faye is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert; children Michael Jaurigue, Angela Migues, Jennifer Jaurigue, Jimmy Stanton, Lori Haire, and Tommy Stanton; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gloria Moilanen Matheny ’59; Carol Moilanen Mumma ’72, Robert Moilanen; Cindy Moilanen McFadden ’77; and Jeff Moilanen.

Lawrence D. Watson, class of 1969, died September 2, 2020 at his home in Fort Wayne.  Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation and served in South Korea.  He was part of a multi-divisional effort which received the Meritorious Unit Citation for saving the life of a foreign president.  He worked at Zollner Piston Corp. and managed produce sections of local groceries.  Larry was known for his amazing lawn and gardens.  He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Maggie; daughter Tracey Atkinson; step-son Michael Wittkopf; step-daughter Jennifer Wittkopf; two grandchildren; and two brothers, Bob ’75 and Mark ’74 Watson.

Diane Nusbaum Conner Cook, class of 1970, passed away September 22, 2020.  She was an LPN for 25 years.  Surviving are her children, Angela, Donald and Deka; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; sister Debby Nusbaum Beckman ’68 and Denny Nusbaum ’75.

John C. Silverman, class of 1970, died December 9, 2020 from complications of COVID-19. John was a devoted caregiver to both of his parents.  He obtained a BFA from the University of Minnesota.  He had worked on ad sales for WFFT-TV, MMT International, WANE-TV and at Custom Video Communications.  He was currently managing several residential properties he owned in Fort Wayne.  John is survived by his daughter, Rachel Wetzel; two grandsons; a brother, Geoffrey ’72; sister, Julie Silverman Ditton ’76; and his fiancée, Victoria Klemmetsen.

Douglas A. Vogel, class of 1970, passed away September 24, 2020.  Doug enjoyed cars, fishing, hunting, facing and spending time at the lake with family and friends.  He worked at GTE/Verizon for 39 years before retiring in 2009.  He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard.  He is survived by his brother, Curt ’73; sons, Tim and Chris; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; life companion, Amy Guenthardt and her family.

Marcia Goshorn, class of 1971, died October 31, 2020.  Marcia lived in Aspen, CO after attending Colorado State University.   She was an avid skier and taught ski school for 16 years.  She owned the Godl Key Real Estate Company in Aspen.  Marcia was a volunteer for many organizations also.  She is survived by her mother, Helen, Sister Carol Whitinger; and three brothers,’68, Douglas, and Brian ’79.

Gary Wynn, class of 1971, passed away November 30, 2020.  Gary ran track at South Side and went on to work for FWCS and SWCS.  Surviving family include his mother, Louise Webster Wynn ’44 and aunt, Jean Webster Wittwer’43.

James “Rick” Knight, class of 1973, died December 5, 2020.  He was a truck driver for USA Trucking and a bartender.  Surviving is his mother, Carmen Knight; daughters Samantha Knight and Heather Bowlin; and two granddaughters.

Margaret Creek Lee, class of 1975, passed away October 2020 in Fort Worth TX.

Steven C. Vogt, class of 1976, died November 11, 2020.  After high school he moved to New Orleans and worked offshore on oil rigs until moving to Estes Park, CO in 1987.  In Estes Park, Steve created, built, owned and operated Range View Security, Inc.  He is survived by his son, Chris; daughter, Chelsea Euell; girlfriend, Carrie Belt and her children; six grandchildren; and his brother, Robert Vogt ’80.

Ronald Buesking, class of 1961; passed away October 14, 2020.

Nancy T. Kohr, class of 1979, died November 28, 2020.  Nancy was a talented painter and also enjoyed embroidery work.  She is survived by her brother, William Kohr, and many close friends.

Lionel Q. (D.J. Jammin’ L) Hogan, class of 1983, passed away November 2, 2020.  After high school he attended truck driving school and later learned the craft of laying floors.  He eventually became the owner and operator of Hogan’s Flooring.  Lionel played music for over four decades as D.J. Jammin’ L.  He is survived by his children, Branden, Tiffany, Haley, Madison, Monae, Aniyah, Lionel Jr. and Amareah Hogan; four grandchildren; and brothers, Peter, Jeffrey and Geneori.

Alan H. Keller, class of 1984, died December 21, 2020.  Al will be particularly remembered for his Fourth of July celebrations.  He is survived by his wife, Kristina; daughter, Gwen; step-children Amber Tanesky, Dustin Carbaugh, Mike Sumpter, Robert and Korey Carter; four grandchildren; and sisters, Julie Keller Anderson ’71, and Lisa Keller Hassett’74.

Jeffrey A. Reed, class of 1986, passed away December 27, 2020.  Surviving are his daughters, Rachael and Jacklyn; and a granddaughter.

Brian G. Smith, class of 1988, died September 30, 2020.  He obtained his bachelor’s degree from IU in 1993.  Brian loved rock music and jamming out to Led Zeppelin and VanHalen.  Surviving is his wife, Janelle; children, Victoria and Grayson; stepson, Brandon Gaskin; and brothers, Daniel’67; and Gregory ’64.

Jessica L. Walker, class of 1989, passed away October 10, 2020.  Jessica attended Brown Mackie College in South Bend and received an associate degree in Medical Technology from Med Tech College in Fort Wayne.  At the time of her passing she was employed by Sugar Drops Day Care. 

Shane A. Coker, class of 1991, died October 17, 2020.  Shane is survived by his children, Madeline Garcia, Alexandra Furge, and Nicholas Coker.

Sean V. Fleming, class of 2006, passed away December 29, 2020.  Sean served in the U.S. Marines after high school.  He enjoyed watching football with his father, teasing his siblings, and hanging out with his mom enjoying her home-cooked meals.  Surviving are his parents; children, Elijah and Isaiah; siblings Christopher Feliciano and Modesto Feliciano, Stephen Fleming and Sarah Fleming.

Christian E. Guerrero, class of 2013, died June 15, 2020. He was a member of the Laborers Local 213.  Survivors include his parents, Chris and Maria Guerrero; and sister, Christel Doyle.

Hakeem O’Mer Cage, class of 2015, passed away December 2, 2020.  Hakeem furthered his education at Indiana Teach, studying psychology.  Survivors include his children, Ta’mia Adigun, Londyn Moore, and a baby on the way.
